The 27th Australian Jamboree will be one of the biggest youth events in the country.

So we‘re building a young team - mainly Venturers and Rovers - who will shape how AJ2028 is seen, heard and experienced across Australia.

If you’re interested in media, design, storytelling, strategy, photography, video, social media, writing or brand, we want you on the journey from the very beginning.

We are not waiting until we arrive on site.

We are starting early so our team can learn, plan, test ideas and truly understand the area, the audience and the scale of what AJ2028 will be. This is your opportunity to grow your skills well before the gates open.

Being part of the AJ2028 Marketing Team means:

  • Learning how a national event brand is built

  • Working alongside experienced Leaders and creative thinkers

  • Developing real skills in content, campaigns and communication

  • Contributing to a project that will reach Scouts across the country

  • Being part of something big from day one

This is more than event media. It is about building the voice and identity of AJ2028 and making sure the whole nation feels the energy of the Jamboree.

If you are passionate, creative and ready to step up, we would love to have you involved.

Come and be part of the team.

Start the journey now.

Describe your Jamboree/Major Event journey in 2000 words or less, or 200, or 20.

My first major event was as a youth member at the Perth Jamboree in 1995, where we had Melissa Georgeand Silverchair as the main acts on the stage. Bar set @Dale Krumins! Since then I’ve been to 4 Cuborees, 4 Kangarees, 5 Jamborees and a Venture. For the majority of those I’ve been in the Catering team, but spent a couple moonlighting on the Newspaper team. Best memory from any major event, was my daughter, now 20 years old, but then 9 months old, driving a buggy at the 2007 Elmore Jamboree. She was there the whole Jamboree and got cuddles from a few thousand new friends.

Are you getting better at Catering? Will AJ2028 be the best Jamboree food in Scouting history, at least since the 1934-35 Jamboree at Frankston?

The team and I are always refining our processes, data, ordering, menus etc at each event. We listen to all the feedback, do thorough plan > do > review > and are looking forward to this Jamboree being our best food experience delivered yet.

What was your role in the AJ2025 giant balls of frozen meat that were still thawing after the closing ceremony?

I know nothing... I was there for the frozen burgers at Kangaree 2014 and vowed to never have anything to do with frozen meat ever again.

You’ve introduced a lot of amazing innovations over the years. Any new ideas for AJ2028? Profiterole towers? Sushi trains running around the whole Elmore site? French waiters cooking crepes at the Patrol table? Baked beans?

I do love trying something new each event! We implemented a purpose-built piece of software to manage all food calculations and orders at Cuboree 2020. The Supermarket and Lunch Mart models were new at VicJam 2021. Refrigerated truck transport onsite was new at Governor General’s 2024. I love the Sushi train idea and will see if we can make it work, but I do have another innovation in mind for this one. Something we’ve not seen at a major event before. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I’ll give a clue - we’ll be giving

everyone a green thumb.
